Ari Jaaksi leaves Nokia before Meego device launched

Nokia Meego chief Ari Jaaksi has left the company before the manufacturer has even announced a phone on the platform. Meego is a merger with Nokias previous software Maemo and Moblin. It is yet to launch a product. Meego was announced in Barcelona this year and is a Linux based operating system.Delegates who attended Nokia World in September were expecting an announcement regarding the operating system, but none were made. Jaaksi is the third Nokia executive to leave the company recently. Meego is hosting a conference in Ireland next month.

UK: Nokia N8 to launch 22 October

The Nokia N8 will be available to buy on 22 October, the manufacturer said today. The smartphone will be available at Carphone Warehouse, O2, Orange, Phones 4u, T-Mobile, Tesco Phone Shops, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone. The Nokia N8 smartphone will also be available online for immediate delivery from 15 October, for £429 Sim free or on contract from £30 per month.
The manufacturers latest smartphone will come loaded with a range of exclusive content from the Ovi Store including BBC iPlayer. The device also features a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, the ability to record HD quality videos; edit using a built-in editing suite and play-back with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.
Nokia UK group manager Sami Lehtinen said: The Nokia N8 is one of the most innovative phones of 2010, packed with market leading features, including the best picture and video capability available on a smartphone.
“The reaction to the Nokia N8 continues to be phenomenal and, after all the build up, it is great to be getting it into the hands of customers.”

The Nokia N8 can from today sync with MAC via the iSync app available for MAC computers. iSync needs at least OS X 10.4.9 to work properly. It is included as part of Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
Keep on top of your calendar easily by synchronising meetings and appointments between your Nokia device and iCal, Apple’s handy desktop calendar, using iSync. You can also use iSync to synchronise contact information between your Nokia device and your Mac’s Address Book, including:
